South Yorkshire is on the rise again. Out of the ashes and loss of its mining industries, its commercial property world is seeing a new lease of life.
The region’s central location, transport infrastructure, by road, rail and air, plus modern communications and technology are all combining to help South Yorkshire build a strong business community again. With London and other major cities struggling with accommodation costs for employees, the regions are benefitting.
Business is building and continuing to grow, according to Boxpod MD Nick Marlow who’s keeping a close eye on commercial property prices and availability in the area.

He said: “South Yorkshire has had its share of economic woes over the last three decades and has recovered well after the damage caused to the area by the end of the mining industry which had a devastating effect on communities and families. Business has been building within the region and continues to grow.
“South Yorkshire is poised to grow further with its central location and its connected network of major A roads and motorways, important rail freight terminal and the Sheffield and Doncaster airport all playing a part of the region’s growing economy.
“Similar to its neighbouring area of Humberside and in particular Hull, the City of Culture, South Yorkshire shows a real picture of economic growth due to its independent survival efforts after being left to its own devices following the decline of the mining industries without support.
“Prices for commercial properties compare well with its neighbouring Midlands regions giving further evidence of its growing stature in the commercial world.”
